Roll Call: How many ski days this year?

Now that the season is officially over at Gore, it's time to add 'em up. Even though there may be a few areas still open for this weekend, my season is likely done.

22 days on my Gore pass
7 days at West (OK, those were actually nights)
2 days at Mount Snow
2 days of XC (GHL and Mt Van Ho)

So 33 ski days.

21 days on my Gore pass (all at Gore). I battled a case of bronchitis for most of the season, which made it difficult to do 2 days in a row, and the friend I skied with most of the time, who's fast and really, really good, often wore me out.

Thank the heavens for that big dump in late February. Overall, not a bad season at all.

Yikes. I'm usually a 50 day a year skier. This year I only have 31. It was a wierd year between conditions and a knee injury, so...

I may get another couple of days in at Whiteface or VT. We'll see.

Missed 5 days at Gore that we traveled up for Thanksgiving
Missed 5 days at Gore in early spring due to work issues at home
Missed my annual trip to Telluride---7-9 days.

Hope to get summer skiing at Hood/Whistler, we'll see.

Good idea for a thread Jeff.

I had 27 days this year. My goal was 30 or more.

True to the mission of Harvey Road, it was (almost) all in NY State:

Gore (20)
Whiteface (1)
Siamese Ponds Wilderness (1)
Hunter (1)
Belleayre (2)
Plattekill (1)
Hopewell, NJ (1)

With all the snow that fell south of the mountains, I felt I had to count one ski day in my own backyard.

New areas for me were Plattekill and Belleayre - two mountains I really like.

You may have noticed - I'm a total creature of habit. I appreciate the friends who pushed me (James and Jason) to expand my horizons and explore the Catskills.

I put together something of a summary for my season and posted it this morning. As you'd expect it's mostly about Gore:

When I looked back at it, it was actually a pretty good season.

Maybe not when compared to other ski seasons.

But when I compare what I spent on skiing and how much enjoyment I got out of it, I think it's the best expenditure of my entertainment/discretionary dollar.

And that's not accurate ... for me skiing is far more than entertainment and it certainly is not discretionary.

I'm some where around 40 days. I gotta confess to the board that I was naughty. Some will boo me, especially those who truly earn their turns because they don't live 40 mins from Gore and less than 2 miles from West Mtn. I can literally look out my window and see the slopes of West Mtn.

I probably should not admit to it in a ski forum but.....

I coulda easily had 60-70+ days this season and didn't seize the day. My bad, huh?!! I know, I D-bagged it. I had a pass at Gore and West Mtn and I was off all winter. Every year, I'm all like " I'll get 50-70 days!" and thought this year I would. Now I realize that once I get over 30 days I start to lose interest.

You skiers who endure long drive times and expense/effort to ski a lot really earn your turns. Word. You are the Champions.

I know some of you would kill to be in that position and yet I squandered it, so to speak. Sorry. Go ahead, snowball me. My bad.

I did have a lot of fun tho!!!

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! Harv no doubt would love to ski that many days. He has the ski bug bad. Chronic. Someday he'll get that many days annually. He deserves it.

Boy it sure felt like I got more

Not sure how this happened. Felt like I had quite a few more days than I did. Maybe it was the trip out west and two weekend trips up to WF. Here's my totals:

Gore - 9
Whiteface - 5
Snowbird - 2
Solitude - 1
Park City - 1

Total of 18 days.

Thought I had around 25 days. I guess perception is everything. 72 Days is pretty freakin amazing. Something to aspire to.
